Judgement

Deck: Ethereal Bloom Tarot

Judgement is a card of awakening.

It represents clarity, final decisions, spiritual rebirth, life's purpose, an inner calling, and those moments when something within us simply knows:

It is time.

This card can represent a wake-up call, a moment when we are finally able to look at where we've been, take the wisdom from what we've experienced, and make a clear choice about where we are going.

There is an energy of finality here, but not necessarily an ending.

It feels more like a release.

The release of an old version of ourselves.

The release of something we've already learned all we can from.

The release of guilt, regret, fear, or uncertainty that has kept us connected to a chapter that is already complete.

Judgement asks us to take everything we've learned and allow that wisdom to inform what comes next.

The Call

In traditional tarot imagery, Judgement often depicts the Archangel Gabriel sounding his trumpet as people rise below him.

Gabriel is associated with divine communication, revelation, sacred truth, and guidance through transition. Even his name carries the meaning “God is my strength.”

The trumpet becomes a call to awaken.

However the imagery in this particular card feels noticeably different.

Here, the angel appears feminine.

She isn't blowing the trumpet.

Instead, she holds it delicately in front of her.

Her wings rise behind her but aren't fully opened, and she looks as though she has gracefully descended and landed among the roots of a tree.

Behind her are several headstones. Another appears almost intertwined with the roots beneath her feet.

Behind all of this, ocean waves roll in the distance.

Surrounding her are swirling flowers and small shimmering objects that remind me of feathers or dandelion wishes caught in the air.

There is so much movement around her.

Yet she is completely still.

What struck me most is that she doesn't appear to need to sound the trumpet at all.

It almost feels as though the call can be heard simply through her presence.

The message is already surrounding her.

Perhaps it has even become part of her.

When I sat with this card, the words that came to me were incredibly simple:

“It is time. Now is the time.”

When We No Longer Need the Wake-Up Call

Sometimes we spend a long time waiting for clarity.

We ask for signs.

We seek reassurance.

We wonder whether we're making the right decision.

We wait for something outside of ourselves to become loud enough that we can finally feel certain.

Perhaps Judgement represents the moment when we realize we have already heard the call.

We don't need the trumpet anymore.

We know.

The roots beneath the angel feel especially meaningful to me.

Roots represent everything beneath the surface, the experiences, relationships, lessons,

grief, love, mistakes, and choices that helped create the person standing here today.

Intertwined among those roots are headstones.

There are things that have ended.

Versions of ourselves that no longer exist.

Dreams that changed.

Relationships that completed their purpose.

Beliefs we've outgrown.

Lives we once imagined for ourselves that were never meant to follow us into this chapter.

However, something ending doesn't mean it disappears from our story.

Like those headstones among the roots, what has passed can still become part of what grounds us.

We don't have to resurrect every part of our past.

We can honor it.

Learn from it.

Release it.

Allow it to become wisdom.

Answering the Call

This is where Judgement feels different from simply making a decision.

A decision can come entirely from the mind.

A calling feels deeper.

It is the quiet recognition that something within us has changed enough that we can no longer continue living exactly as we did before.

Perhaps we've known for some time.

Perhaps we've been preparing without realizing it.

Perhaps every experience leading here has been helping us become ready.

Then eventually, there comes a moment when seeking another sign becomes unnecessary.

The trumpet has already sounded within us.

Now we decide whether we will answer.

How to Work With This Energy Today

Notice what you already know but may still be asking for reassurance about.

Reflect on what you are ready to release, not with anger or regret, but with gratitude for what it taught you.

Consider where your experiences have given you wisdom that you are now ready to use differently.

Pay attention to the quiet inner calling you've been hearing, especially if you've been waiting for outside permission to follow it.

Ask yourself whether you truly need another sign, or whether the next step is simply trusting what you already know.

Journal Prompt

Take a moment to look back at the path that brought you here.

What chapter of your life feels complete, even if part of you has struggled to fully release it?

What did that chapter teach you?

What wisdom has become rooted within you because you lived it?

Then bring your attention toward what is calling you now.

If you stopped waiting for another sign, another person's approval, or perfect certainty, what do you already know it is time to do?

Sit quietly with whatever comes forward.

Perhaps you don't need to figure everything out today.

Perhaps you only need to acknowledge the call.

Closing Reflection

Judgement reminds us that awakening isn't always loud.

Sometimes there is no dramatic revelation.

No trumpet sounding from the heavens.

No unmistakable sign telling us exactly what to do next.

Sometimes awakening is much quieter.

It is the moment we realize that everything we've experienced has brought us to a place where we finally trust ourselves enough to hear what has been within us all along.

The past can rest.

The roots remain.

]The water continues moving.

Then something within us quietly says:

It is time.

Perhaps the trumpet doesn't need to sound anymore.

Perhaps you have become the call.

Remember the wisdom within. ✨
